GRE Practice Test 1
I did it…I signed up to take the GRE in roughly a month. At this point, I plan to apply to at least 2 or 3 PhD programs for School Psychology.
Possible universities:
- University of Denver
- University of Colorado at Denver
- University of Texas at Austin
- University of Washington
- University of Oregon
The two Colorado Schools are definites…then I might add in another just for grins. As much as I don’t relish the idea of moving to Greeley, CO, I probably should also investigate University of Northern Colorado’s program, since it’s approved by the NASP.
Anyhoo…on to the practice test:
Verbal: 760 / 99th percentile
Quantitative: 710 / 76th percentile
Guess I know what I need to study, eh? I skipped over the writing portions, but reviewing their sample answers at each level of writing, I need to practice there as well (sigh). I’m stunned at how high my verbal score was; during the middle of the test, I felt like I needed to start playing Scrabble on a competitive basis.

You should totally go to UW!! Then you can move up here and I can make cookies for you and your cute baby girl and help you decorate your digs! :)

Man, that would be a blast! Besides that, one of my “mommy group” friends lives in Burien, and another friend is a federal investigator up there.
But oh, man…the cost of living up there is HARSH.
I finally took a good look at the site for U of Northern Colorado’s (UNC) program, and I was impressed. UNC’s focus, from the early years (late 1800s), was on training teachers, so their Education College is very strong. On top of that, um…I might actually be able to afford to live there.
Whatever, I’m leaning toward a PhD, so I need to pick somewhere I’d be willing to spend six or seven years…YIKES!

U-Dub would be great…I agree! And right near my old alma mater (probably could take a course or two there) at Seattle Pacific U. They all sound like great choices.
