it is what it is

welcome to reality. if you lived here, you’d be home now.

Go see Enchanted.

December 3rd, 2007

After sending this to my moms’ group, I realized, DUH…I should post it here, too. If you get a chance to see a movie, do this one. Really.

I keep forgetting to RAVE about this movie to you guys! Mike and I saw it on our anniversary (go figure, a day away from Maya, and we still went to a kids’ flick), and we BOTH were just about rolling the whole movie, and preggo-emotional-me, I cried at the end. I loved, loved, loved it.

If you’ve been (forced to watch) exposed to your basic Disney animated flick at ALL, go see it. Seriously. We actually bought the soundtrack while still in Colorado, and have listened to it nearly daily since then.

Here’s another review, from a feminist standpoint — I totally agree with her.

I should have read this before I wrote my review. But I totally agree. Enchanted undoes all the damage I’d feared Disney had done when my girls started playing Princess.

My 8-year-old and 4-year old girls were SOOO excited about the revisioning of proper princess behavior. Prior to Giselle we only had butt-kicking Mulan, who is still my favorite Disney girl, but she’s not a princess. I hope the Giselle action figure comes with a sword. Then she and Mulan can spar.

…And the girl still gets the boy in the end. Happy endings all around!

I loved Patrick Dempsey as the “damsel in distress!” I keep singing the songs so I think I may have to go pick up the soundtrack too:) Thanks for the recommendation! Caroline loved it too!
